Eraser Rings (Inspired by Good Books)

After my post about needing to read a good book, I finished three in the last few weeks:

*Bridge to Terabithia, by Katherine Paterson (this is a good one, but horribly depressing)
*Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley (# 53 on my list)
*The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

All three were very good.  I especially loved The Little Prince. Apparently, this book has been around since the 1950s, and was voted best book of the 20th century in France, but I just discovered it in the last year.  Its a children's story, but its definitely worth your time.


I also completed another project I've been thinking about for months: Eraser button rings- just in time for school to start.









I found some eraser clay made by Sculpey that bakes into usable erasers! My original plan was to make button molds, then push the clay into the molds for an assembly line, but that didn't work very well, so I shaped each little button by hand, then baked them.
Using gold thread (and a teeny bit of superglue) I attached the eraser buttons to gold toned metal rings to create adorable- and useful jewelry.

Each ring features two little buttons and was inspired by a book.  After molding, sewing, gluing and photographing, I packaged each one up with a quote from the book.  Would you like one? I just posted them in my ETSY shop.
