I was wandering through Hobby Lobby the other day when I came up with the idea for this mushroom ornament.

Auntie Heather and Uncle Patrick

Hey Everyone,
As you know I've been busy this Christmas season, but I thinks its time that I tell you about the most exciting distraction I have: I am going to be an aunt!

12 Days of Recycled Christmas Ornaments (DIY) #12 ~ Drum

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...
twelve drummers drumming...

Calico Critter Box Room

The holidays are all about tradition.  We start in November and hop from family dinners to Christmas cards to Secret Santa to New Years Eve parties.  Before I know it, I'm stumbling out of bed on January first with mascara smeared under my eyes in my 'fat sweatpants' (because I kind of love Christmas cookies) and I realize that its all over.

Lace Doily Scarf (DIY)

Winter is gorgeous, but not so fun if -like me- you're always cold.  When I meet up with my friends to ice skate or walk around downtown, I'm secretly jealous of their girly dresses and fuzzy fingerless gloves because I'm usually shivering uncontrollably under six layers of long johns with snot frozen to my face.  Picking out a pretty outfit can be disheartening when, to survive, you have to throw on enough layers to look like the Michelin Man.

Matchbox Advent Calendar (DIY)

As a little kid, I lived with my family on an Air Force base in Spain.  My fondest memories include opening the care packages that arrived from relatives in the states.

Brick Guy Key Chain (DIY)

Let’s just admit it: LEGOs are fun to play with no matter how old you are. This key chain is a fun accessory to make and tote around – and if you happen to find yourself stuck at work or on the bus with nothing to do, just pull this little toy out of your pocket for instant fun! Here's how to make your own:

Calico Critter House Flip

A few months ago, while digging through the Goodwill Outlet Center bins, I found a vintage Calico Critter house from the 1980's!  Yaaaaaaay!  Unfortunately, it was beat up and missing some parts...like the stairs, a few doors...the base of the house....nothing big, right?  As I dragged my treasure into our apartment, my husband's jaw dropped.

Gift Wrap Wednesday #2 ~ Webdings Wrapping Paper

So you're stuck at the office and you suddenly remember that you forgot to wrap that birthday gift sitting in your car!  Don't panic.  Here's a great way to wrap up your package using things that can be found in your cubicle:

Bleeding Heart Tee (DIY)

I made this tee for Patrick's Halloween costume (not so much of a costume for him - he really is a bleeding heart liberal).

Happy Halloween!

I love Halloween!  I love decorating and carving pumpkins and dressing up and candy and pretty much everything!

Good{will outlet} Friday #33 Costume: Greek Goddess

If you haven't decided on a Halloween costume, now is the time!  This week's Good{will outlet} Friday post is another quick costume made with items that are easily found at the Outlet Center - a dress as a Greek Goddess!  Just like, last week's outfit idea, everything you need should cost less that $10.

Good{will outlet} Friday #32 Costume: 1960s Housewife

For the last two Fridays in October, I'm going to write about Halloween costumes that use easy-to-find items from the Goodwill Outlet Center, or any Goodwill store (because if you're anything like me, you won't think about your outfit until hours before you need it).  This cute costume can be thrown together in minutes and everything I used cost less than $10.

Psycho Shower Mat (DIY)

Now, I realize that some of you people out there were rolling your eyes when Halloween decorations began lurking on store shelves in September.  I'll be honest: I was giddy.  I love decking out my apartment for holidays - any holiday, and in my opinion its never too soon.  I'm guilty of setting up the Christmas tree before Thanksgiving, but think of it this way: tree trimming can be a lot of work, right?  Why not enjoy it for as long as you can?

Good{will outlet} Friday #30 ~ 13 Outfits From 12 Pieces

At the beginning of every season, magazines and websites are plastered with articles that feature new trends and list all the clothing staples you need for your wardrobe.  I especially love the posts that show readers how to mix and match a just few items to create a handful of different outfits- like this one from Lucky Magazine.

Geode Necklace (DIY)

My favorite subject in elementary school was probably geology.  I love rocks and I REALLY love that geology inspired designs have been popping up in high fashion.  While browsing Chanel's website, I stumbled across these gorgeous geode pieces and had an epiphany:
I could make one of these....

Critter Craft Time

Remember when I confessed to buying that Calico Critter house?  Yeah...I'm still slightly ashamed of being a twenty-something woman with a child's dollhouse, BUT look what I found at the Goodwill outlet center: vintage Calico Critters and furniture from the eighties!

Pixie Dust Necklace (DIY)

Whenever you find yourself with nothing to do on a summer afternoon, here's a suggestion: go to a Renaissance Fair.  If you've never been, you are missing out; its like participating in a giant medieval play.

Cupcake Ring (DIY)

Can you find cute little goodies at the hardware store? Yes!
The base of this cupcake ring is a wooden 3/8” RH Plug- and it just happens to be the perfect size and shape to become a teeny little cupcake.

Eraser Rings (Inspired by Good Books)

After my post about needing to read a good book, I finished three in the last few weeks:

*Bridge to Terabithia, by Katherine Paterson (this is a good one, but horribly depressing)
*Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley (# 53 on my list)
*The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry
